How To Increase Your Positive Mental Energy

Healthy Mind – Healthy Body.  It’s a well-known fact.  But what can you do on those days when you just can’t get motivated to do anything?   Below are a few tips to help snap you out of your funk and get you back into a happy life (regardless of what’s going on around you).

1. Always expect the best.  “Worry is misdirected imagination.” I read somewhere.  You can imagine good things are going to happen to you or bad things.  Your worrying won’t change the events (action will, but not worrying).  So why not imagine good things most of the time and deal with the bad things when (if) they happen?

2.  Stay away from “downers”.  Everyone has at least one person that’s a negative influence in their life.  If  you can, avoid them as much as possible.  If you can’t, steer the conversation away from negative subjects and spend as much time as you can around other positive people.

3.  Pick one big, audacious goal and go for it!  What’s the one thing you’d do if you knew you could not fail.  Set it as your goal.  If after you set it, you don’t feel like it’s Christmas morning, go back to the drawing board.  The thought of achieving this dream should get you super-excited.  Then don’t wait.  Do one thing to move you towards that dream before you do anything else.  You’ll be surprised how your spirit soars.  “Don’t Die Wondering What Might Have Been.”

4.  Someone always has it worse than you.  When something bad happens, take the attitude “It could be worse.”  and your mood will lift instantly.  If your doctor just told you that you have high blood pressure and you need to go on medication, think about the person who just found out they have cancer.  Be thankful you’re not them and you’ll feed your positive emotions.

  5.  Exercise.  I know, you were just waiting for this one.  But it’s a scientifically proven fact that exercise (especially high-intensity exercise like we do at Punch Gym) causes your brain to release endorphins which are known as the “feel good” hormones.  If you’ve ever wondered why you feel so much better after a workout – now you know.

There you have it.  Five simple ways to get positive and stay positive.  Having a positive or negative attitude may not change what happens to you.  But with a positive mindset you simply get more joy out of life.  I choose positive.
