One Simple Way To Have A Better Life…

You only get one shot at life.  You don’t get to go back to high school and do it right this time.  You don’t get to watch your little one take their first steps again.  You don’t get to chaperone that Grade 1 field trip again.

If you’re not doing things you want to (or should) be doing because you either:

1) Don’t have the energy, or

2) Are ashamed of the way you look…  you’re missing out on the best parts of life.

But it’s actually worse than you think.

When you don’t participate someone else misses out on what you could be adding to their life.

It could be your child.  Imagine the shared memories or bonding experiences they won’t have because you were too embarrassed or to tired to join in on the fun with them.

It could be your spouse or best friend who wants to take a trip or try something new and active, but you refuse because  you don’t have the energy or don’t want to squeeze into some of your old clothes.

Not only are YOU missing out, THEY are missing out too – and that’s selfish on your part.  When you back out of life you not only diminish your life, you diminish the lives of those around you – especially your loved ones who depend on you.

You have something to contribute.

Think of the best times of your life.  It may have been your honeymoon, or a vacation, or teaching your child to ride a bike, or any number of things.  You made life better for someone else and at the same time enriched your own.

I don’t know what it is for you, but  I do know one thing.  Your best times didn’t happen when you were sitting in front of the TV or computer… or on the bench.

I know it’s easier said than done.  When your toes are at the edge of that high diving board and you’re looking down at the water waaay down there – the urge to turn around and scurry back down the ladder can be overwhelming.

Somebody needs you to take that leap. Don’t let your low energy or feeling ashamed of your body hold you back.  It could be your spouse, your best friend, a co-worker… or your child.

Don’t be selfish. Take the leap and you’ll improve everyone’s life.

Let me leave you with this:

Work like you don’t need the money,
Love like you’ve never been hurt,
Dance like nobody’s watching.
